What about my room during my stay abroad?

When you go abroad in the context of a study exchange programme or for an internship, the possibilities for subletting depend of the type of room:

  • If you rent a room on the private market, you can sublet your room. The landlord can only object if he has a valid reason for this, eg. the subtenant is not a student.
  • If you rent a room in a subsidized residence, you can not sublet your room, only suspend it.
  • If you rent a room in a non-subsidized residence, ask your residence manager about the options for suspending your contract.
